November arrived with a whimper, bringing us days reminiscent of late summer. The warm, sunny days yielded to pleasant, star filled evenings and the insects came out to chirp for what might be a last time before the onset of cold winter days. The last couple days represented the best of both worlds - the beauty of autumn as the trees displayed their amazing array of colors, combined with the warm, comfortable temperatures of an Indian Summer. All this talk of plants and summer led me to post this image of a flower stand, taken on the corner of 13th and F Street NW. I took the image on a blazing hot summer day as I wandered the city during my lunch hour with my trusty camera in-hand.In retrospect, I think I should have used a fill flash to display even more color from the plants that were shaded by the umbrella at the display stand, but carrying a bulky flash to attach to my already bulky Nikon D1 was unthinkable in the misery of that hot July day. Of course, the built in flash of the newly released Nikon D200 could solve that problem...
